Although US was a leading country in UN coalition forces that defended SK against NK aggression, it looks like the Korean war is almost forgotten at least in general public of US:maybe because so many events happened during the ensuing Cold War.

If the current denuclearization talk btwn US&NK is successful, NK can be ready to reform its economy with assistance from int'l community including SK.If NK takes such path, economic integration btwn SK&NK will be possible leading to national reconciliation.

3. Frankly speaking, I think this summitry is ridiculous. If it is the starting point of diplomacy, then I will say worth trying. However, if this summit wants to achieve a CVID, then I say NK is not serious about the CVID. To hold the summit, I say the US must get NK’s promise

Huge change in terms of North and South Koreans lives. We don't have to live in constant fear of embracing another bloody conflict. (I feel no need to explain of Korean war here) Under Peace Regime, both Koreas would be losing justification of spending extreme amount of resources

Ppl talk about human rights issue in North. Yes, that should be definitely addressed. but unfortunately it's become more and more political tool. And it's not exclusive to the North only but (less level though) to the South as well, where notorious national security law

I doubt human rights would make much of an impression at the summit, as it has always been the third rail of all our dealings with North Korea. But, again, I wouldn’t dismiss Trump and Kim’s flair for the grand gesture to create good press, however insubstantial and fleeting.

That is very peculiar characteristics of SK leftists. They are extremely reluctant to raise any issues which can make NK regime uncomfortable like human rights, its hereditary rule, or even abduction of SK people, although they claim to advocate human rights and democracy in SK.

I expect a better relationship between the United States and North Korea for the sake of global progress. Kim is afraid to trust the United States because of history but i do believe President Trump is better equipped to deflate that thought.

Yes, to imply or infer at times that DPRK is not a 'rational actor,' thereby inadvertently portraying hostile responses to it as necessary or required. Similar was used with Iraq and consistently with the Palestinians.
