Why should I use Stash instead of Amazon S3 or Dropbox?

BackupBuddy Stash was designed specifically for storing WordPress backups and to work seamlessly with BackupBuddy. Plus, if you have BackupBuddy, you already have 1GB of free BackupBuddy Stash storage. Of all the remote destinations offered in BackupBuddy, it's the easiest of all to set up. Give it a try!

Can I still access my backups if I can't access my site?

Yes. We wanted to make sure everyone had an easy way to securely store their backups off-site. You can download your backup files stored in Stash via iThemes Sync. Just sign in with your iThemes username and password. So if your site crashes, you have an off-site copy ready to restore.

How do I access my BackupBuddy Stash backup files?

From within BackupBuddy, go to the Remote Destinations page and select your BackupBuddy Stash destination. This lists the files for the site stored in Stash. From here you can manage, download or copy your backups down to your server. You can also view your quota and other usage information from the dashboard.

You can also view all your site backups from the iThemes Sync dashboard. Quota and usage information is also shown here. Even if your site goes down and you don't have access to your WordPress dashboard, you can easily get access to your backups.

Can I use BackupBuddy Stash with an old version of BackupBuddy?

No. Support for BackupBuddy Stash as a remote destination starts with BackupBuddy version 3.1, so make sure you're running the latest version of BackupBuddy if you want to take advantage of your free BackupBuddy Stash space.

Can I access my BackupBuddy Stash via FTP to store other files there?

No. The goal of BackupBuddy Stash is to offer an off-site storage solution that isn't as complex as backing up to FTP or Amazon S3. You can still use BackupBuddy to send backups to other destinations that you control. But BackupBuddy Stash is made just for storing your WordPress backups.

Will I be charged if I go over my Stash storage amount?

No. You won't be able to add more backups if you reach the limit of your plan. You will get an email notifying you if scheduled backups don't send due to hitting the limit.

Is my data on BackupBuddy Stash secure and encrypted?

Yes. Files sent to BackupBuddy Stash are transferred over encrypted SSL. Additionally, the files stored are fully encrypted once reaching our servers using AES 256 encryption, which is so strong that the US government authorizes this level of encryption for top secret government documents. Once on our servers your file is replicated across the cloud for redundancy so your data is protected against server failures. We handle all the hard stuff behind the scenes.

Do I need to have an active BackupBuddy subscription to access my BackupBuddy Stash files?

Yes, you'll need to have an active BackupBuddy membership to maintain access to your BackupBuddy Stash files.

Do Stash plans stack? Can I buy multiples of the same storage plan?

Stash plans do stack, so your total Stash storage quota is the sum of all Stash plans you have purchased + 1GB of free storage (already included for all current BackupBuddy customers.) Please note: because of the way our subscription system works, you'll need to contact our sales team if you wish to purchase multiples of the same plan so we can manually make that adjustment on your account.
