Comment Reply via Email
Comment reply by email allows you to send a reply to a comment directly from the comment notification email. No need for an extra trip from your email client to your WordPress blog just to reply to a comment.
Requirements
For comment reply by email to work, you must meet these requirements:
- Settings > Discussion > E-mail me whenever > Anyone posts a comment
- Reply must contain the quoted comment notification message or contain “!END” on its own line at the end of your reply in the email.
Quoting
Most email clients will include the original message in an email reply. WordPress.com scans the body of the email looking for this quoted section and strips it out (along with anything below the quoted reply). If your reply message does not include a quoted section when replying to an email, you’ll need to add the following on a line by itself at the end of your reply:
!END
When WordPress.com reads !END (on a line by itself), it will use it as a marker and ignore everything below that line. Everything above !END will get made into a comment reply on your blog. This way, you can use the !END feature even if you have quoting turned off in your email client.
