Server, WordPress and any other miscellaneous requirements for Simple Share Buttons Plus.

Simple Share Buttons Plus requires WordPress, therefore it inherits all of the same dependencies as WordPress, which you can check here.

The changelog will always be the best place to check if Simple Share Buttons Plus is compatible with the latest version of WordPress. You can find it by the ‘Tested up to’ tag. We shall always strive to ensure that you can safely upgrade to the latest version of WordPress, but it is always recommended (along with all your other plugins) that you check here first.

At the time of writing this, Simple Share Buttons Plus is compatible with WordPress version 3.9 and upwards. It is likely that backwards compatibility will gradually change, and with good reason!

At Simple Share Buttons, we recommend using PHP 5.4 or higher, but currently support version 5.3+

It was first realised that the plugin was incompatible with PHP 5.2 when a release included an anonymous function (introduced in PHP 5.3). The use of this functionality was introduced so that a new feature put in place wouldn’t need to make an extra call to the database. Catering for PHP 5.2 would affect the performance of Simple Share Buttons Plus, something not worth sacrificing for an antiquated version of PHP.

The last change to PHP 5.2 was in January 2011, if you are still on this version you should certainly ask your host to update it, but please check that everything you are hosting in the same environment will be compatible first.
