Library
The CBI Library is located down the steps at the left of the Jefferson Street Lobby*. The library is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The collection is comprised of 2,700 items spanning a wide range of Jewish interest. Included are adult fiction and literature, and subjects such as the Bible, Judaism, Israel, history, the Holocaust, biographies, art, cooking, music, travel, and reference. A large number of children’s titles in the areas of holidays, Bible stories, Hebrew language, picture books, fiction, and nonfiction for all ages supports the pre-school and religious school curriculum as well as recreational reading.
Books are available to circulate to congregants, their families, and the community. Each has a checkout card on the inside back cover. Circulation instructions are posted. Books are shelved by subject using a system developed for synagogue libraries, similar to the one in use at local public libraries. The children's collection is shelved separately. An online catalog searchable by title, author, subject, and keyword is available for your use on the computer in the library.
*The CBI staff will provide assistance in retrieving books for those for whom negotiating the steps down to the library is difficult. Come to the Main CBI office for assistance.
