Our provider (Hetzner) messed up it's routing and telephone support can not be reached. It looks like it's working again but I have no idea whether problems will return or not.

There was a bug in the trades.csv API where the "start" parameter would be ignored. This has been fixed.

As of today Bitcoincharts supports SSL. Please make sure to install CAcert's root keys so your browser can verify the certificate.
Bitcoincharts embeds some images (like the hashrate charts) from sites that do not support SSL.

We experienced a small database problem today and had to restore a backup. No data was lost and everything's working again.

After tweaking the backend a little performance now should be better and 502 errors should happen much less often. Previously, this site was handling about 2000 simultaneous users. Now it is handling close to 50,000 and there are still resources available.

Bitcoincharts' database is being rebuilt in order to improve performance. This will take a few hours. Historic mtgoxUSD data is available. Realtime data will be back within a few hours.

We've had a small problem with a memory leak in our database server. This is fixed now and the site is fully functional again. No data has been lost.

"Out of coins" was our old 500 - Internal server error page. It's a relict from the time when Bitcoincharts only had a few dozens users. We have changed it to a proper message now.
For the curious: An scheduled update on the frontend servers went wrong because the network connection between testing and production systems went down just so that a single library was not copied correctly while the system thought everything went well. We have changed the script so this should not happen anymore.

We were changing the API requirements for being listed on Bitcoincharts. Unfortunately, we were not able to reach anyone at bitmarket.eu for a month even though we wrote several emails. The new backend can not support the old API anymore so we have decided to remove any markets (at least temporary) until they support the new API.
This also applies to bitcoin-central, b2c and bitcoinmarket.
