To install virtual machine add-ons (in VirtualBox), follow these steps.

Download the addons from virtualbox.org in the downloads section.

Open the file as if it was an executable.

This will launch VirtualBox asking if you would like to install the extension. Install it.

As part of the additions, you get USB 2.0 support but NOT USB 3.0 support. USB 3.0 has no support... yet.
If you have USB 3.0 ports on the front of your computer, plug in all of the USB devices you want to use on the back because USB devices on the back of your computer are most of the time USB 2.0 ports
