Eminent space scientist G Madhavan Nair said the IT boom is going bust with increasing automation leading to shrinking employment opportunities for freshers even as he favored Indian companies focusing on creation of high end jobs and the domestic market. The former Indian Space Research Organization chairman said he had mentioned a couple of years ago that the so-called IT boom would go bust and "that is the phenomena we are now seeing". "The recruitment for freshers (IT engineers) last year was reduced and this year in many places it has come to zero, that means that type of job opportunities are not there," Nair said. More →

Kyocera launches DuraForce smartphone with image processor, fingerprint sensor: Specifications and features

Japan-based Kyocera has announced a new smartphone that packs "Super Wide View" 1080p action camera which has its own image processor that gives it slow-motion, sports, action and underwater mode. For security, the 5-inch DuraForce Pro smartphone packs a fingerprint sensor, built-in encryption, Android for work support and is expected to be priced around $418 (Rs 27,000 approximately), Engadget reported on Thursday.
