| At what stage should I take BMC? | Ideally before you apply for your first internship so you get the full benefit of BMC on your resume. |
| What is the time commitment? | It takes approximately 8-10 hours to complete all 4 modules. |
| Do all modules take the same amount of time to complete? | No. Modules vary in length. |
| I know nothing about finance – is the course for me? | Yes. BMC is an introduction to finance course designed for people with limited prior exposure to the financial markets. |
| What level of mathematics skill is needed? | Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and basic algebra are required. Advanced statistics and regressions are not required. |
| Do I need a calculator to complete the course? | Yes. A basic calculator or phone calculator is sufficient. |
| What are the system requirements to run BMC? | You will need to download the latest version of adobe flash (18.0.0.209). This can be downloaded free of charge here: https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ If you skip forward repeatedly there is a small chance you will experience technical issues with your web browser. In order to avoid this, ensure you clear your browsing history/cache before starting BMC. If you experience any unexpected technical difficulties, please send an email to [email protected] and a Bloomberg representative will be in touch shortly. |
| How long is my BMC access valid for? | 12 months. |
| When do I get the certificate? | If you log in to the BMC, your certificate will be downloadable from the course home page as soon as you have completed all four modules. |
| Do I get a certificate after completing each module? | You have to complete all 4 modules in order to be awarded a certificate of completion. |
| Is there a pass/fail mark to obtain the certificate? | No, it is a certificate of completion. |
| Can I just do one module? | Yes. However to earn the certificate of completion you must complete all modules. |
| Can I access BMC through my phone or tablet? | BMC is a media-rich, immersive experience designed for desktop consumption. |
| Will doing BMC make me more attractive to employers? | People frequently cite experience with market data platforms on their resume. BMC is a way to signal familiarity with the Bloomberg Terminal. |
| How often is the content updated? | The financial markets are constantly evolving and the Bloomberg Terminal evolves alongside the markets. Accordingly, the BMC will be updated periodically. |
| What are the differences between BMC and BESS? | BESS teaches users how to navigate the Terminal. BMC teaches basic finance. |
| Why should I take BMC over BESS? | Take the BMC to learn entry-level finance. Take BESS to learn Terminal navigation. |
| I am a student, but I don’t have a .edu or .ac e-mail address. How can I purchase BMC at the student discounted rate? | If you have a school email address which does not conform to this format, email us at [email protected] and we will apply the student discount. Please note that we will not provide the discount for regular web mail accounts such as gmail, hotmail etc. |
| Do I need to take BMC before I take the BAT? | No. The two products are unrelated. The BAT is not a test of the BMC content; the BAT is a test of finance acumen. |
| Who devised the program? | BMC was scripted by a team of finance professionals including CFA charter holders. |
| Can I take BMC with a normal keyboard? | Yes. |
| Can I download the videos? | No. The videos are the property of Bloomberg LP. |
| I have paid to access BMC on the web however I have changed my mind and no longer want to do the course. I have not started BMC yet – can I get a refund? | No. All sales are final and we do not grant refunds. |
| Why am I getting a blank screen when trying to play a video? | Please ensure that you have a recent version of Adobe Flash on your computer and that the Flash plugin is enabled on your Internet browser. |
